Good morning,
I was going through recent reports and noticed there has been a really heavy emphasis on healthcare and energy stocks. That’s been the right call, and I’ve tried to make a point to keep pounding (Go Panthers tonight) the table on my best ideas.
But today, I want to put some fresh stocks in front of you, some in beaten-up sectors, others that you may not have even heard of before.
Earnings are still top of mind for this week, so we’ll start with some key earnings reactions and levels to watch in today’s trading.
But after that, we’ll review:
Consumer names that are bucking the weak trend
Small-cap trade ideas
Tech names that are holding up in October
Hot List updates
and more!
Earnings reactions
SK Hynix pops 13% following earnings
I’m still not a buyer, and this really just establishes that the stock is in a 50% trading range. But it sure helps DRAM and the broader semiconductor trade (SOXX +2.1%) yesterday.
Seagate goes red-to-green but still below broken support
Needs to get above $710 and then a declining 50-DMA, but a false breakdown here would be a big deal. MACD says there’s a chance.
Vertiv soars (into resistance)
+16.5% is no small move, and the stock did reclaim its broken neckline. But it found resistance at a declining 50-DMA, and that relative trend can’t be fixed in a day. Skeptical for now, but I’ll change my mind if it can stay above yesterday’s low ($228).
Positive premarket action for Microsoft
Microsoft is up 2% premarket, trading near $541/share. If it holds, that keeps key support at $514 intact and sets the stock up for another test of long-term resistance (and a potential breakout) at $555.
